SCHUCO ANTIQUE CAR TIN TOY WIND UP GERMAN "VARIANTO - LIMO" WORKING..!! Can anyone tell my what the name of this antique toy engine is? The manufacturer? About when it was made? I have a question about an antique toy engine that is powered by heat (using denatured alcohol). I have digital pictures of it at the site list below (may need to copy/paste it in address bar to view). The dimensions of the structure are listed with the photos. I'm wanting to know where it was made (manufacturer) and about when. I believe it is over 100 years. Also, what is it called? It's not very powerful, so I'm assuming it's meant for operating toys. When the cylinder is heated, the wheels rotate. More details can be found at http://picasaweb.google.com/andy.gohawks/AntiqueToyEngine There isn't a name on it anywhere? This is just a guess, but it might have come with a Gilbert Erector Set, but I think they would have been marked. I don't think it as as old as 100 years though. My guess would be 1930's - 1950's.
